Week 7 Best Bets: Tim Cannot Stop Betting the Texans post thumbnail image

You had to do it, huh Tim? You just had to risk your Lock of the Week winning streak on the Houston Texans. And on top of that, you also picked the Detroit Lions to cover? Talk about your all-time bonehead picks!

In other news, the NFL season keeps moving right along. We move into Week 7 and as mentioned last week, the injuries just keep piling up. But, with all these injuries, come some good opportunities to win some bets! So let’s get after it!

Week 6 Recap

Detroit Lions (+3.5, -110) vs the Cincinnati Bengals, Cincinnati Wins 34-11

Boy, oh boy, did the Lions look bad. I wasn’t all the way sold on the Bengals being a good team, but I am definitely sold on the Lions being a horrific team. As Dan Campbell has stated, Jared Goff better step it up and work harder if the Lions are going to win a game this year.

Baltimore Ravens (-2.5, -115) vs the Los Angeles Chargers, Ravens win 34-6

As much as I love the Chargers, I just had a feeling the Ravens would figure out a way to win this game, and boy did they. The Ravens absolutely ran over the Chargers on their way to a 34-6 rout of the Chargers. What’s scary is the Ravens only needed a total of 327 yards to win this game. Their defense is for real!

New England Patriots (+3.5, -115) vs the Dallas Cowboys, Cowboys win 35-29

This game was an emotional roller coaster. At first, it looked like Dallas was going to win big, but the Patriots did enough to keep it close. After a back-breaking interception returned for a touchdown by potential Defensive Player of the Year, Trevon Diggs, the Patriots kept the hope alive, but may have scored too quickly. In the end, Dallas scored a walk-off touchdown, instead of a field goal, and we ended up not covering.

Lock of the Week

Houston Texans (+10, -110) at the Indianapolis Colts, Colts win 31-3

Well, the Texans carriage turned back into the pumpkin just in time for this game. After looking surprisingly adequate against the Patriots, the Texans were horrifically bad against the Colts. Just a bad pick…Onto next week.

Weekly Record: 1-3-0

Overall Record: 11-13-0

Week 7 Card

Chicago Bears (+12, -110) at the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tampa Bay is a really good football team. Chicago is not a very good football team. The Buccaneers just struggled with a mobile quarterback in Jalen Hurts and if the Bears watch any film at all, they will game plan to get Justin Fields moving a little more than normal. I am putting a little too much faith in Matt Nagy’s hand, but ultimately I believe 12 points is too many. Maybe Tom Brady will forget what down it is again?

Kansas City Chiefs (-5.5, -115) at the Tennessee Titans

The Titans just pulled off a massive upset of the Buffalo Bills! Their reward? The Kansas City Chiefs. Tennessee will look to pound the rock and maintain time of possession, but it just feels like Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs are on the precipice of exploding. Give me the Chiefs in this spot.

Philadelphia Eagles (+3, -115) at the Las Vegas Raiders

Looking like another let-down spot here for the Raiders. After an emotional win following a very rocky week that saw Jon Gruden resign as head coach of the Raiders, I look for the Eagles to play the Raiders close, and possibly win this game. The Eagles are in desperation mode and look to secure a win to close the gap on the Dallas Cowboys.

Lock of the Week

As much as I want to take the Texans +17.5, I just cannot bring myself to that torture again…So, my lock of the week is:

Cincinnati Bengals (+6.5, -110) at the Baltimore Ravens

If you haven’t noticed, I typically try to go against teams that just balled out. And boy did the Ravens ball out. Sportsbooks do not like teams that ball out two weeks in a row and this number being at 6.5 tells me that the Sportsbooks believe this will be a close game. With so many double digit spreads, this one being right around 7 makes me want to take the Bengals.

Here’s to hoping the road teams cover this week!

Tim
