Welcome back to your weekly dose of me – I know you’re all thrilled to be here. This is a week to week article highlighting who I think are good streaming options each week. The following players and teams are rostered in under 40 percent of leagues according to Yahoo. Week 2 went better than Week 1, but I whiffed badly on Kirk Cousins. I can’t believe I let him convince me he was going to play well, and my condolences to anyone that listened to me. However, if you played Mason Crosby or the Cardinals defense, both finished inside the Top 10 of their positional delegations in Week 2. Let’s dive in and see if we can correct the boat for quarterbacks and stay on course for your kickers and defenses.
QB: Justin Herbert vs Carolina Panthers (20%). Justin Herbert got rolled out Sunday in place of Tyrod Taylor after the Los Angeles Chargers team doctor accidentally punctured Taylor’s lung attempting to give him a shot for rib pain. While we are all hopeful that Taylor recovers, the rookie came out and impressed versus the former Super Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs. Herbert went 22 of 33 for 311 yards, one touchdown and one terrible rookie mistake interception. On the play of Herbert, the Chargers took the Chiefs to overtime. The Panthers have allowed 255 yards and six TDs to running backs in the first two weeks. Look for Herbert to use both Joshua Kelley and Austin Ekeler as passing backs who get into the end zone this weekend.
D/ST: Arizona Cardinals vs Detroit Lions (39%). If you picked up the Cardinals last week when I suggested it, lucky you – you get to roll them out again this week. Matthew Stafford may get Kenny Golladay back this weekend, but he’s already admitted he doesn’t feel 100 percent. The Lions may score but they aren’t going to carve up this D. Consider the Cardinals a weekly stream option.
K: Rodrigo Blankenship vs New York Jets (23%). Our second rookie riding the boat this week – the goggled God should fair just fine against a lowly Jets D. Blankenship was good from 28 yards, 38 yards twice, and 44 yards last week and hit two extra points. He also leads kickers in field goal attempts at 7 through the first two weeks. The Jets are visiting the Colts, who have a retractable roof stadium so weather shouldn’t be an issue. Fire up the rook for points and your viewing pleasure.
We started a comeback after an abysmal week one. Let’s see if we can go 3/3 this week. Good luck and godspeed, friends.
